In Need for Speed Heat, the boundaries of the law fade when night falls. Compete for the day in the Speedhunters Showdown: a series of legal events where you will earn funds to customize your own fleet of cars. When your car exudes style, increase the intensity at night. Take part in illegal street races with your gang but don't get complacent, because there are corrupt cops on the prowl. Play it, destroy your rivals to increase your REP and risk everything for clandestine glory. KEY FEATURES: HOLDS THE PRESSURE: In Palm City the police are always on the lookout for reckless pilots. During the day they play according to the rules. At night, corrupt cops will use any means necessary (from jammers to helicopters) to stop you. DAY SHIFT: You'll have to work hard to get on the nerves of the cops who patrol Palm City during the day. They are more professional and controlled, but they will do everything in their power to stop you if you cross the line. NIGHT SHIFT: At nightfall, the rules change when a corrupt group of special forces comes out to play. For this group, led by Mercer, you are the prey. When the sun sets, problems can arrive in a matter of seconds. ALERT LEVEL: The alert level increases when you break the law. The higher you go, the harder the cops will try to stop you, so don't risk too much or they will go all out. Go unnoticed in a safe house or in your garage to secure the REP earned and lower your alert level, but lose sight of them beforehand. LOSE EVERYTHING: The police will try to corner you to try to stop you. If they succeed, they will arrest you and you will have to pay a large fine with your funds. Additionally, you will lose almost all the REP you have accumulated during the night. Your car can be damaged to a certain extent, so if you can't get to a gas station or your garage in time, you can call it a day. OUTSIDE THE POLICE: To get rid of the Palm City police you will have to be skillful and use your head. A quick turn at the right time can make them take the wrong direction and give you the advantage you need to get rid of them. If you lose sight of all the cops chasing you, you will get home safely. If you escape for the day, your alert level will drop to zero and you will no longer be the most wanted pilot in all of Palm City. But if you do it at night and manage to reach the garage or a safe house, the alert level you have accumulated will multiply the REP you earn.
